DIY Mei Tai

I have been baby wearing for a while now. I own several carriers myself. A few I made myself for when my son was born. I followed a group on Facebook before I actually tried a table cloth carrier.

Sounds weird doesn't it? But you are going to be surprised how cheap and easy it is to make.
I have already made a short wrap out of a grey tablecloth, but this time I wanted to try to make a Mei Tai, because my son is getting so tall he is out growing my Soft Structured Carriers (SSC) and I really can't afford $170 for a Toddler Tula right now.

So off to Target I went. They usually have tablecloths on clearance and they just look nicer than Walmart. The prints are in my opinion better. Another store that is good for clearance items like tablecloths is TJ Maxx, Ross, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
Also your trusted thrift store around the corner is a good place to find cheap tablecloths :)

I found this beauty at Target. It looked like a nice
Fall print to me, so I picked it up.

The idea initially was to make a wrap, but when I got home I checked out a tutorial I have seen and decided to make a Mei Tai.

And this is what I made out of it.

The hood is my own design. Basically the straps are so wide it basically is a Wrap Conversion
Mei Tai. It feels so comfy when I wear my son. He is 18 months old and weighs 28 lbs, so he's a big boy.

Here he is all smiles :)

I have used it for a few days and decided it needed to be a bit more boy-ish though.
I have been experimenting with dying and I decided to dye it blue.
